Cedar Creek Academy is a dream come true for our founder, Dr. Rosie Arenas, who was running her first escuelita at age 5, teaching her two little Spanish-speaking sisters and two Dutch-speaking neighbor girls. This was not just a child pretending to play school but it was a foreshadowing of her lifelong journey as a teacher and educator. With 33 years of teaching experience from Kindergarteners to Master’s degree candidates, her passion for teaching is undeniable. Her younger sisters joined her in making her dream a reality when she founded her true escuelita.
Josie Arenas-Fierro never imagined she would help run a school let alone teach less than 30 students at a time as she, too, became a teacher and administrator with a total of 26 years of experience. Her enthusiasm for teaching and learning is her driving force.
And how do you combine a love of nursing and cooking? Rachel Arenas found a school in need of both. With 43 years of Nursing experience, she wondered who she’d take care of after retirement, never guessing it would be a few students and teachers at a small school in the mountains.
Combined with their other passions, la escuelita is located on the premises of 7 Sisters Mountain Paradise, LLC.
